Future talks

Rosemary’s talks are always designed specifically for their audiences, and two examples are in her 2019-20 schedule. Hearing Handel is a workshop discussion session with a group where Rosemary is a regular speaker, and with whom she has conducted many experiments in listening. This time she will be using music from Handel’s oratorios (Messiah and Jephtha) to discuss how effectively Handel can convey mood and emotion in his music. A lecture to a larger local arts group under the title The tip of the iceberg will begin from a selection of very familiar works and explore the less popular aspects of their work. For example, everyone will recognise Ravel’s Bolero but his piano music and songs contain wonderful treasures which deserve to reach a wider audience.
