Rosemary is currently preparing a lecture entitled Unfinished Business for the new META group (Marple Exploring The Arts) on Thursday October 22nd. A number of great musical masterpieces were left unfinished by their composers, and Rosemary will explore what went wrong, what survives, and the interesting challenges these works have set for later musicians. The main focus will be on Mozart’s greatest choral works, the Great Mass in C minor and the Requiem, but the talk will also consider works by Bach, Elgar and many others.
The lecture will also serve as an introduction to the performance of Mozart’s C minor Mass to be given at the Royal Northern College of Music on Saturday 21st November. The performers will be St George’s Singers, Poynton, under their conductor Neil Taylor, with the orchestra of Chetham’s School of Music and Kitty Whately (soprano).
